Keys to success
Celluon CL850 Laser Projector Keyboard; $90; www.celluon.com
Jim Motyl, software engineer, WMS Gaming:
This Korean laser projector, a Bluetooth device that connects to my UMPC (as well as to PDAs, cell phones, and other mobile devices), shines a bright red "qwerty" keyboard on flat surfaces. It weighs slightly more than 4 ounces and is just 3.5 inches wide. The keys can be clearly seen in practically every other environment except direct sunlight.

Brando MP4 Watch; $78; shop.brando.com.hk
Pascal Darre, marketing manager, CompeGPS:
Brando's digital timepiece can be used to record and listen to audio, play video clips, and store files for work. The watch, which supports both MPEG and Windows Media formats, is available in a 2GB model, but I chose the less expensive 1GB version -- the same capacity as an iPod Shuffle.

Random International Instant Labeling Tape; $18; www.random-international.com
Janko Roettgers, blogger, P2P-Blog.com:
Produced by a design collective based in London, this tape comes in 65-meter-long spools and is printed with block designs that look like a digital clock gone haywire. You use a Sharpie to black out the lines you don't want seen, which leaves behind a smart-looking digital-style script.

The write stuff
Metal Pen; $30; www.grand-illusions.com
Ilene Hoffman, director of photography, Business 2.0:
This inkless pen from Germany is so simple. The nib is a metal alloy that writes like a pencil, but it doesn't smudge and doesn't wear down. And you never have to worry about leaks. It's small but it's chunky, like a crayon, and feels solid in your hand. Another great feature is that the cap screws on, so it never gets lost in your bag.
