This shop is top notch. Brought my typewriter to Paul, and got excellent service and when I picked it up after a few days, it was like a new machine. He really cares about his work. Something hard to find these days. And when I was leaving, his son realized it was raining outside, so he takes my machine, wraps it in plastic, and tapes all corners closed, and then puts it in a shopping bag and carries the machine outside and helps me get a taxi. You can't get this kind of service anywhere. !!!

I was copier repairman for almost 16 years. It is the dirtiest most stressful job you could have and only earn about $35,000 a year at. Now I sell insurance and earn 3 times that much money. The hell with that.

xxtramagnum now you've proven you are nowhere near the top 1 percent. Do yo remember saying that earlier? But hey, I won't be mad that you have an active imagination. After all you DID say you hope my children die. Although since you said that you wont answer any posts. I guess its because you know you're wrong.

Try filling out some of the government forms with a computer and , oh, by the way - what happens when there is no electricity? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM??????I use a computer almost exclusively, but I wouldn't sell our typewriter - and they still sell them at Office Max, Home Depot, etc.

I miss the days when equipment around us was so much simpler to use.

I use my typewriter exclusively at my office. I have a service contract and they come and clean the typewriters once a year and come and fix them if not working propertly (which hasn't happened in over two years). I use my computer only for my Peachtree accounting program. At home, I use the computer, microsoft works for any typing needs. I LOVE MY TYPEWRITER !!

Much like vintage cars...there will always be a place for a classic typewriter in the heart of, say, a journalist or novelist who has that rare grasp of nostalgia...I imagine typewriters will be wonderful items for specialty collectors.

I still use a Smith-Corona machine that in addition to being a regular typewriter it is also a word processor, you can insert a floppy disk and save your work or make templates such as forms, spreadsheets, form letters etc. Had it about 20 years. Also you could type a complete letter or document and have it print it by itself. It stores the document in the memory and writes it on command, great machine. I use it when I just want to write a short letter or envelope and do not want to boot the computer and printer. It uses a cartridge ribbon.
