Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and arch enemy of Google's new social media attempt, Google+, seems to be the most popular user on Google+.Zuckerberg most likely created an account on the new social media site to keep tabs on it. As of Wednesday, he had about 45,000 people following his updates. Social Statistics, an outside service surveying the top users on Google+, revealed that Zuckerberg has more followers than Google founder Larry Page and other top executives at Google.
Only a week old, Google+ is not widely available to the public yet, but that's not slowing down interest in Facebook's biggest competitor yet. The service allows users to share photos, links, status and video chat while separating followers into different circles, like family and friends.
Although Zuckerberg's account has not been confirmed by either Facebook or Google, the account is connected to other top Facebook executives.
"It makes sense that he wants to check it out," said Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten, founder of Social Statistics. Everyone wants to keep an eye on the competition."
Invitations to join the new network are only being distributed among tech industry bigwigs, bloggers and journalists for the time being, but so far, preliminary reviews are fairly good. Adam Posh, a blogger at Lifehacker, stated that Google+'s Hangout feature, which allows users to video chat with up to 10 friends at once, is "the best free video chat we've ever seen."
Despite the possible threat, Facebook doesn't seem all too concerned. "We're in the early days of making the Web more social, and there are opportunities for innovation everywhere," Facebook spokesman Jonny Thaw said.

I have something to say to Mark. The richer you get the more you are hurting your loyal players. Making us have to pay cash to buy now then to be able to purchase with our hard earned coins. The more you do it the more I'm getting tried of your site and about to look for some other game then any of yours. STOP BE SO MONEY HUNGRY. Also make a link for us players to be able to write you right away when we lose gifts.
Zuckerberg is such a dork. He's a yutz. Look at him. I use Facebook to store photos and so people can get in touch with me. I rarely check it let alone play those dumb games.
The Skype thing may bring me back to using it however. Provided it works well.
First off, Facebook and the Company Zynga (games) are two different entities. My take on the Face off is that Facebook will remain popular so long as it stays on the cutting edge and keeps it's doors open for open architecture and joint ventures. Google's ideas are great so far. It will be interesting to see how wide the door will swing for other Companies to participate in their platform. I think both are missing the boat on providing an opportunity for savvy Internet Marketers /Entrepreneurs to capitalize on the market by providing extended services. Twitter.com/GlenP
This is still so rediculous.....99% of the use of facebook consists of people sending little blurbs to one another....is it fun and communicative.....sure, is it really worth billions......PUHLEEZ.
This is a perfect example of the herd instinct.
Any company with any web savvy at all can provide the same product or better.....and here, google clearly is.....as a population, we really need to consider the pack we run in........ZuckSchmuck ripped off his own school to start this, and the world is rewarding him for it everyday.....that really sucks.....Google is a REAL company, and is almost 100% useful in good honest ways......there are very few times when the G has done something unethical......they do, but very seldom.
People just want to follow a trend......look at this schmuck....now really, a dishonest rippoff traitor who sells your private info all the time......creates devious ways to rope you into my privacy issues, and skates around the law with the use of big money.....absolutely disgusting
