Mike Tyson's tattoo artist, S. Victor Whitmill, settled his lawsuit against Warner Bros. over use of his tattoo design in The Hangover Part II, averting a Feb. 2012 court date. The terms of the settlement were confidential.Warner Bros. announced that the dispute has been "amicably resolved," after an all-day mediation session, and that it will not have to digitally alter the film for the DVD release as it had previously planned to do if the case wasn't settled quickly.
Whitmill claimed Warner Bros. violated his copyright on Tyson's face tattoo when it recreated the design on the face of Ed Helms' character. When Whitmill filed the lawsuit in April, he attempted to stop the Memorial Day release of The Hangover Part II, which has gone on to earn about $490 million worldwide.
