Consider it the iSBA. The Small Business Administration has created a mobile app to help small businesses access its resources on the go. The app, which can be downloaded here, is currently compatible with the iPhone, while the agency plans to release versions for other smartphone platforms in the future. The SBA app is designed to give quick access to SBA services, such as listings of counselors and district office staff, and to provide free, personalized assistance. The agency also hopes the app will make it easier for entrepreneurs to get answers to their questions about starting a business and to locate SBA partners, Small Business Development Centers, Women's Business Centers and SCORE offices.
Other features of the app include a startup calculator, which can estimate the cost for starting a new venture, and direct access to SBA's Twitter feed, YouTube channel and other social media outlets.
The creation of the SBA app coincides with a new user-focused SBA site. "Greater mobility fits with the new SBA.gov, and is another example of the steps we are taking to do a better job of connecting entrepreneurs and small business owners with the tools to help them start or grow their businesses and create jobs," SBA Administrator Karen Mills said in a statement.
