Intuit to Award $1 Million in Small-Business Grants

Intuit announced it will invest another $1 million in its Love a Local Business campaign, which provides $25,000 in hiring grants to local small businesses based on online nominations and votes from fans.

Local small businesses could get $25,000 hiring grants from Intuit via its Love a Local Business campaign.Intuit, a major provider of financial solutions to small and mid-sized businesses, announced Wednesday that it's investing an additional $1 million toward aiding small businesses as part of its Love a Local Business campaign. The campaign, which Intuit launched two years ago, awards monetary grants to local small businesses based on online nominations and votes from their fans. To date, the program has awarded $525,000 in funding to 104 small businesses nationwide.

In the continuation of the campaign, Intuit will be allocating its $1 million in grants from now until March 31, 2012. Each month, Intuit will be awarding $25,000 in hiring grants to a randomly selected business that has been nominated on the website.

Shana Rawlings, a local business grant recipient and owner of Harmony in Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center in Benton, Ark., said of the program: "People don't realize that a few thousand dollars can go a long way when you're a small business, working with a 'down to the penny' tightrope budget."
