As part of SCORE's campaign to launch or grow 1 million successful small businesses by 2017, the nonprofit mentorship organization has relaunched its website to be more client-focused and provide entrepreneurs with a way to network with other small businesses, SCORE announced Monday. SCORE is officially relaunching its website in conjunction with AmEx OPEN at the "High Speed Growth" event for small businesses in Washington, DC, on Monday. According to SCORE CEO Ken Yancey, about 500 entrepreneurs are expected to attend Monday's event, which will include a day of free mentorship and small-business educational opportunities, as well as a chance to hear about the new initiatives that SCORE is rolling out to help new businesses start and grow.SCORE's relaunched website will also focus on lending support to America's small businesses. The site will provide a place for members to connect with other small-business owners through the 364 local chapter sites around the country, and will feature a "best practice" resource section. Users will be able to stay in close contact with the 13,000 SCORE volunteers who offer small-business owners one-on-one advice. SCORE is also implementing a standardized mentorship training program that will enhance the organization's existing program, which pairs experienced business professionals with entrepreneurs just starting out.
"We expect the launch of our new website, along with the introduction of our new branding campaign and standardized mentoring training process, to reassure aspiring and current small business owners that SCORE continues to focus on its mission of providing entrepreneurs with valuable skills and business-building tools through our free expert mentors and resources," Yancey said in a statement.
