For the first time, Apple has been named the world's most valuable brand by global grands agency Millward Brown, dethroning Google, which held the title for four years. In its annual BrandZ ranking of the world's 100 top brands, Millward Brown estimated the worth of Apple's brand at $153.3 billion, citing the tech company's success with the iPad and iPhone, "meticulous attention to detail," and its growing presence in corporate environments as particular factors in its rise to the top spot.
"Apple is breaking the rules in terms of its pricing model," Peter Walshe, global brands director of Millward Brown, told Reuters. "It's doing what luxury brands do, where the higher price the brand is, the more it seems to underpin and reinforce the desire. Obviously it has to be allied to great products and a great experience, and Apple has nurtured that."
Google's brand value slipped 2 percent to $111.5 billion, which placed it in the No. 2 spot. The rest of the top 10 list, in order, were IBM ($100.9 billion), McDonald's ($81 billion), Microsoft ($78.2 billion), Coca-Cola ($73.8 billion), AT&T ($69.9 billion), Marlboro ($67.5 billion), China Mobile ($57.3 billion) and General Electric ($50.3 billion).
Facebook ranked on the BrandZ Top 100 list for the first time, at No. 35, and was listed at the top of the Top 20 Risers list, with a 246 percent surge in brand value to $19.1 billion. The rest of the top five "risers" were Chinese search engine Baidu, with a 141 percent increase; Wells Fargo, up 97 percent; Burberry, up 86 percent; and Apple, up 84 percent.
Millward Brown had previously named Amazon the world's top brand as far as consumer perception of value and pricing, while Apple was named the top brand by small-business owners, in a ranking by The Business Journals.

Apple can take all their stuff and put it where the sun don't shine. This corporation does nothing but replace skilled American workers with insourced workers from India...Their buildings are full to the brim with them. Don't buy their products..."They are killing our country"..That's when they are not trcaking us through their hidden programs.
The World ... she is a-changin' ... If you are not doing anything to affect the change, then you really have nothing to say about the direction we are heading. At least make sure your voice is heard.
Apple produces the lamest NEUTERED products I've ever tested.
What about www.TriangleChocolateCandy.com is great ?
Sounds like some of these commenters despise Apple because they can't afford Apple products...these people are envious of the increasingly large number of people buying Apple products. Apple has earned the top spot for brand recognition through leadership in innovation. Their so-called "neutered" products are very successful in the marketplace, much to the chagrin of companies who are desperately copying Apple's products. They think they can do better, but most are proven wrong when following the leader.
