Rewards Without Raises

You may not be able to afford raises, but you can think of other ways to reward your staff. The gift of time is always appreciated. If you can, give your staff an extra day off or close early before a major holiday weekend. Or give them the option to telecommute one day a week. A bonus: The time saved in commuting may actually lead to an increase in productivity -- and a happier, more satisfied employee.
