Microsoft announced its "Ready for Work" contest on Monday, in which five small businesses will each win $50,000, the cloud-based Office 365 software free for a year, and the opportunity to have a Microsoft executive come to the office for a day.To enter, business owners must explain on Facebook, in 365 words or less, why they are inspired to work every day and how Office 365 can help them achieve their goals in the coming year. To qualify, businesses must have one to 50 full-time employees. Deadline for submissions is June 18, 2011.
Also on Monday, Microsoft launched Office 365 Marketplace -- the apps marketplace for Office 365 -- and moved Office 365 from private beta to public beta release, so any business can now sign up to test the software before its official launch sometime this year.
Office 365, which more than 100,000 companies and organizations have privately tested since its introduction last fall, saves Office files to the cloud and makes it easier for employees to collaborate on files.
Meanwhile, Google is already gunning to compete with Office 365, via Cloud Connect, which it released in February. Cloud Connect is compatible with Microsoft Office software and also works with Google Docs.

I started a motor scooter business so a good friend who lost his job and my 13 year old grand son can have a business that will support them. I have been takning it slow but need help in getting the word out so more people will stop in and see me. I use Craigs list but 2/3 of my adds get flagged and taken off. I have been real careful not to have high overhead. I could use some good advice in this market.
