The numbers are looking good for Android phones. Research group Gartner found that Google's Android operating system captured more than 25 percent of smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2010, beating out Apple's iOS, which logged in about 17 percent of the market. A good chunk of those Android phones have found their way into the eager hands of business users. That makes business-related apps a hot commodity. The Android marketplace doesn't break down apps into a strictly business category, but the "Productivity" category is a good place to look. Here are five paid apps that have been topping the charts recently.
1. SwiftKey Keyboard. Thumb typing will never match the speed of a full-size keyboard, but you can hurry things up with TouchType's text prediction app. SwiftKey learns your writing style on the fly and works by predicting what the next word will be as you hammer out emails. It also steps in with some grammar and spelling corrections to help save you from embarrassing typos. ($3.99)
2. DocumentsToGo Full. Fifteen bucks may be expensive when it comes to mobile apps, but there's a good reason business users are willing to shell out for this full version of DataViz's Documents to Go. The app can open Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files for viewing, but the editing capabilities are what really make it sing. Mobile warriors can leave behind the laptop and still make those last-minute document changes. ($14.99)
3. Root Explorer File Manager. Android tinkerers have pushed this SpeedSoftware app up into the top list. It's a powerful file manager that opens access to all the files that are tucked away on your phone. This isn't really for casual users who don't want to dig under Android's skin. Just be careful to back up your phone first and try not to delete something important. ($3.99)
4. Exchange by TouchDown Key. The priciest entry on the list is this NitroDesk app that hooks your Android phone up with your Exchange server for e-mail, contacts, calendar and tasks synchronization. Pair it up with DocumentsToGo and you will have most of your Microsoft-related business necessities covered. ($19.99)
5. Pure Calendar. It makes sense to harness your Android phone as an organizational assistant. Pure Calendar is a widget that plays nice with several popular agenda and tasks services, including Google Calendar and Astrid. The biggest improvement over the built-in Android calendar widget is that Pure, made by Francois Deslandes, lets you customize to your heart's delight. ($2.05)

Because of the fact that history repeats itself. The problems of the past has brought on the problems that we have now. The solutions in the past that has helped the economy needs to be implied to the economy. Taxes needs to be cut. Stupidity needs to be removed from the equation.
Americans must buy American goods. Americans must invest in American company's We as Americans needs to do what ever we are able to do to turn the economy around. For example the US Post office lost over 8 billion dollars last year. If everyone wrote a letter and spent .42 on a stamp we would be going in the right direction. Is this the generation that is going to have less than the generation before us? visit my blog. write me apply what I wrote Not one man can change our country. One man has done alot to harm our country. But I say to you that " Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. my blog is www.enoughhomeless.blog.com
Greetings Timothy~
First off, if you were to remove stupidity from the equation, we'd have to start with your idea for everyone to send a letter....be real. It's time to close the US Postal service down. As for Americans buying American goods? We can't afford them. I think the best thing for you is to take a course in economics. Yes, the next generation gets to pay for our excesses, sorry.
At least Tim is making some sense. But Sue makes none Do you have some type of replacement in mind and if so you should try to show it to the postal service. I'm sure generations to come will close down the postal service as we know it by lack of use.
You're right timothy, Bush did do alot to harm America but we can only look forward now. I agree buy American but we must be competitive before that will happen in great volume.
People pay for things like that on a telephone?WOW,I had no idea.I had heard there were "apps" for cellular phones but I didnt know they cost anything. To be honest I dont care about a cell phone at all.I refused to buy one because I hate to talk on the damn phone so my family got me a cell phone and they pay for it.We all work together and they want to reach me when Im not in our store which is basically never.....I think the cell phone I have is maybe 4 or 5 years old,I dont really know.I hear people talk about smart phones and I just shake my head.I saw something about apple having a new phone and people waited in line for days to pay something like 400 dollars for the cell phone, that one I laughed at.YOU COULDNT PAY ME 400 DOLLARS TO STAND IN LINE FOR DAYS TO GIVE ME THE PHONE FOR FREE.Your life is really messed up if you HAVE to have the latest cell phone and you pay for silly software to go into the phone, thats just stupid to me.
Ryan, you may think it ridiculous to pay this much for phones but many don't. You are entitled to your opinion. However, when you are as busy as many of us are a smart phone comes in very handy. It makes life much easier to have everything that you need at your finger tips. Don't laugh at us when we buy a $400 phone, we're fine with it. I bought everyone in my family one because they use them, and I can afford to. You would really get a kick out of what I just paid for a handbag.
Get a new cell phone for FREE up front with no rebate involved. Service is offered from all of the major wireless providers and phones that are ordered are shipped out FedEx next day air for FREE. Stop paying too much in the stores and get the best deal you will find at (CELLULARPLUSSALES.com) and you will find the BEST deals around.
I thought this article was about Android Apps???
There's one you missed.
www.near2there.com
It's only on the Android and it is really cool.
You can use it as storage for all of the places you want to go or things you have to buy.
When you are nearby these places (hence the name), an alert pops up on your phone.
Very cool!
I saw them at a startup conference in SF and have been using it since.
