The Virgin Group founder will dress up as a female flight attendant on a trip from Kuala Lumpur to London, after losing a bet to AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes. All for charity, of course.

Sir Richard Branson has worn a lot of hats in his entrepreneurial career. But never a stewardess' pillbox hat. Until now. The founder of Virgin Group, which includes Virgin Atlantic, will dress up as a "stewardess" on an upcoming AirAsia flight, after losing a bet with his AirAsia counterpart.Branson, who owns Virgin Racing, made the bet with Lotus f1 boss Tony Fernandes, the founder and CEO of AirAsia. They agreed that the man whose team lost at Sunday's Formula One championship would serve as a stewardess on the winner's airline. Although both teams ended Sunday with zero points (both were making their Formula One debut), Lotus' finishing positions outranked those of Virgin Racing. Now Branson, a member of the AOL Small Business Board of Directors, will don a red stewardess outfit on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to London.
The date of the flight has yet to be announced, but seats will be auctioned online, and all the proceeds will go to charity.
"The aim is to raise as much money as we can for a good cause, so the discomfort Richard will go through is worth as much as it possibly can be," Fernandes said.

Branson is one heck of a good sport.

Mr. Branson is demonstrating just what a good sport, and how generous he can be...now, if Mr. Fernandes wanted to show just how generous he can be, he'd consider working the same flight wearing stewardess uniform (or pilot's uniform if he's shy and, after all, he did win the wager) from his own airline! Now that would definitely get the bidding for a seat off to the races and guarantee a flight offering the finest personal service ;-)
