It's hard to start a brick and mortar business for less than $200,000. In fact, I think that's the minimum. That's a lot of money to risk, especially in this economic environment. When the company that I had been working for since 1987 went out of business I thought I would have no problem getting a job. I guess my resume and abilities didn't mean as much to potential employers as my age, I am almost 60. I looked into the possibility of opening a business but the start up cost scared me. I eventually found a home based business that made sense to me and the investment was next to nothing. All I can say that even in this economy I am making serious money and I only wish I knew about all the benefits of a home business years ago.

Martin, That Success System looks like something that could also work for me. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks
I can completely understand this.. I started my own business about two years ago, and it has been a tough road to hoe.. especially on a limited budget.. I wrote a few funny cookbooks, and named my company whipped and beaten culinary works. It is starting to grow and people are really starting to like the books.. I have used facebook and other social media to help get the word out, but it's been slow going.. the books I have to say are hilarious.. and everyone who has bought one has really enjoyed them.. hope it continues to grow.. if you want to google my company, you can find out more information.
Martin, what a wonderful idea. I too am almost 60. I was laid off from my company and I too, started my own business. I sell tumbleweed seeds door to door here in Arizona. Tumbleweed seeds are a known and proven aphrodasiac used by the ancient Hohokum people for centuries. My first month I grossed almost $27,000. By the end of the twelth month I had grossed almost $250,000. Business was so good that I didn't even have to advertise. By the end of my third year I had purchased and paid cash for a sixteen million dollar mansion in Scottsdale, Arizona. My next door neighbor is a famous baseball player. I have a stall of exotic cars. My daily driver is Cadillac Escalade that I use for running around town. Can you imagine making a fortune on tumbleweed seeds? Who could have imagined that the lowly tumbleweed could provide such wealth and exotic living? Martin, if you will send me $29.95 I will send you your own tumbleweed seed starter kit. You won't have to lie and scam people out of their money. You will be making an honest living. Think of it, Martin. No more fear of the "The Knock" on the door. No more fear of U.S. Postal Inspectors. No more fear of the FBI knocking down your door and hauling your sorry ass to jail. So, send that check as soon as possible, Martin. Change your life forever, Martin. Send the money!
This is nutz.
How fortunate that he found a way to take something he loves and turn it into a successful business. I do not have any unique talents but I have been able to find a real job at home and be home with my children. I guess that makes me successful too. The internet has opened up so many REAL jobs that can be worked from home. I currently make $30K working 4 hrs a day. I work as an EMPLOYEE for a large corporation and I set my own hours. You just have to know where to find these jobs. Google "Best Top Jobs" to get a FREE list of hundreds of real work at home jobs offered by well known companies. These jobs DO NOT cost you money and are not some business opportunity. These are REAL employment positions. This is not a scam only help for those looking for work.
To say that you need to have 200k to open a brick and mortar storefront is absurd. I opened one 5 years ago for under15k. We are still open and profitable. Granted, it will depend upon your location and type of business, but common get real.
WHY ARE WE RUNNING A THREE MONTH OLD STORY AOL. ARE YOU THAT DESPERATE FOR FILLER..................................
interesting
Hey "Martin" "Stanley" or "Gil." Nice try! This is a scam where you take people's credit card info up front and tell them that they only have to pay shipping & handling charges and have 30 days to check out the "system." If they don't return the items back in 30 days you will charge their credit card $139 dollars. However, you charge the $139 within a day or two and make it next to impossible to get the money back. Rip-off!!!! Stay as far away as possible!!
AOL MAKE THIS SPAM CRAP GO AWAY! HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO FALL FOR THIS HOME BUSINESS SCAM NONSENSE!???
I get my almonds directly from an almond farmer in California who uses ebay. The freshest, most delicious almonds I've ever had for $4/lb with free shipping! I have no need for a store like this. They're making it sound like fresh nuts are such a novelty...
AOL really needs to figure out how to get rid of the spammers as they detract from actual people commenting on things and possible having a good dialogue with others.
Where does it say he's successful or how much he's grossing ? He could be going out of business next week. Nuts & dried fruit are readily avail everywhere especially on-line. All he does is buy and re-package in his bags and attempt to sell retail locally. This is just another advertisement on AOL.
so you send out prelim notices to all your customers and if they don't pay you lien their house.... duh
I started my Heating and Cooling business 11 years ago! Last year was the first time I had any problems with work! Always had plenty! Now can't hardly find a job anywhere without advertising! But the problem I had was working for dishonest people who get you to install all the equipment and ducts and then don't pay! $278,000.00 since 2001 has made it hard to provide for the family and keep up the insurances and license that I am required to carry! No help from the government either! Nothing!!!
All I got to say is B.S.
I recently started a business this June. I still work a full-time job. It puts less strain on me and my business. I work Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues full-time so that gives me time to do the work for my biz on the off days. I was very lucky to land a job with local large manufacturer. They provide me a job to do once a month and I make more from that in one day than I do all month working my full-time job. My message to people, depending on the business, is that it could only take one company to make all the difference to your company. Good luck to all.
You gotta be kiddin'! AOL responsible because some idiot doesn't have enough sense to make a rational decision about something?
How about eBay? Maybe they ought to be sued to if you fall for crap and pay good money for it.
How about suing McDonalds if you get clogged arteries.
The possibilities are endless.
P.T.Barnum was a genius.
I think AOL should be held liable for anyone that gets ripped off by the spammers promoting their rip off businesses. AOL allows them to spam, even when you report them as I do, every day. Sue AOL if spammers that they allow to post, rip you off. Maybe that will finally compell AOL to put a stop to it.
@JB, Thats a tough row to hoe, not road to hoe LOL
