The Soup Nazi is one of Seinfeld's most memorable characters, and now he's back with a vengeance."The Original SoupMan," whose notoriously brusque proprietor inspired the sitcom icon, closed up shop in Manhattan six years ago. But owner Al Yeganeh, who publicly despises the "Soup Nazi" nickname, reopened his original location on Tuesday, giving soup lovers a reason to "have your money ready."
Yeganeh opened the first Soup Kitchen International in New York in 1984 and eventually became known for his mulligatawny, lobster bisque and ensuing lines down the block. He closed the flagship location in 2004 to focus on franchising opportunities, though he retained the rights to the brand. Original SoupMan franchises have popped up all over the country, including Princeton, N.J., Washington, D.C., Dallas, St. Louis and even in Canada.
The 1995 Seinfeld Soup Nazi episode was inspired by Yeganeh, who is famous for having little patience with patrons and demanding that they "get in line" and "move to the extreme left after ordering." A public relations firm representing Yeganeh said the Soup Nazi's famous lines will be a staple in the new shop, as well. The famous rules are listed on the Original SoupMan website, and press be warned: he doesn't like being called the "N word."
Fittingly, the Soup Man who started it all did not show up for Tuesday's opening.

I thought it was a great show and, if Jerry wanted to callhim a SOUP NAZI, it s partially right based on his attitude towards customers just wanting to enjoy his great soup. Besides it was only a TV show that was entertaining.
