The founders of Grasshopper.com have started an online petition, asking President Obama to create a holiday recognizing U.S. entrepreneurs.

In an effort to recognize entrepreneurs' contributions to the nation, the co-founders of Grasshopper.com have started a public petition to create an official National Entrepreneurs' Day.The online petition is addressed to President Obama, asking him to make March 20, 2011, the first National Entrepreneurs' Day, akin to Mother's Day and Father's Day. While Global Entrepreneurship Week and World Entrepreneurship Day already exist, founders Siamak Taghaddos and David Hauser point out that there is currently no day recognizing U.S. entrepreneurs.
"The more research I did, the more it confirmed my suspicion: America, the most entrepreneurial country in the world, didn't have a National Entrepreneurs' Day," Taghaddos wrote in a blog post announcing the petition.
Taghaddos and Hauser, whose Grasshopper.com sells a virtual phone system for entrepreneurs, do not expect the country to make it a holiday where people take off work, but they hope the day will serve to honor entrepreneurs for the hard work they do.
As of May 13, nearly 1,000 people had signed the petition.

This is the dumbest idea ever. Entreneurs could'nt give bleep about a National Day recognizing their efforts. They're too busy running their companies. Apparently the founders of Grasshoppers have plenty of time on their hands otherwise they wouldn't be wasting time on this sort of project. I suppose it does put them in the spotlight, but for the wrong reason
Obama Will Only Figure Out How To Use This As An Opportunity To Bone Us.. You Can Keep The Change.
It's a nice gesture, but how is it going to benefit us entrepreneurs who are diligently working long hours and wearing many hats just to stay afloat in this horribly tough economy? How about some "real" bail-out for the "real" people who are actually working? I'm tired of being patronized and mislead!!!!
What a stupid waste of time. I think we should close all businesses and have a parade. These people have too much time on their hands and are certainly not entrepreneurs.

You got it backwards......the GOVT will come back wanting something. But in any event....its a total waste of time IMO
I think is a great idea, but what are the benefits?, I don't think it

This seems harmless enough, but the wrong kind of people can make it become a real task. Like Boss's Day, M-in-Law Day, etc. No wonder our production is dropping.
This is a good idea however this article is asking a man to sign a particition that he does not know the deffinition of. He has never had a job or a thought that a real entrepreneur has. Entreprneurship is real work, an effort to grow and achieve something in life. Not be told we are greedy and should give it all back. So leave us real Entreprenuer's below the radar and hope this never leaves his desk to make us a target as he has everyone else.
Yeah! Let's support business entities that have outlived their founders and in the several generations since have managed to purchase and now profit from every facet of resources they once supported.
Let's see, the big business's have long owned all the natural resources for whatever products they produce out of the mines, thier own power and water plants. They own the hospitals, clinics and test facilities... a protection racket or sceme of insurance companies that now regulate them and the allotments of medicines that actually bankrupt their employees who possibly live to long...
Yeah! It just makes sense for us to stop a thank the business sectors that are just to big to fail even though they really only represent 5% of the greediest. After we all thank the entities for there services, since they really are entities they can be turned into community nonprofits or co-ops for those who use the services to improve the communities standards of living rather than destroying them.
