One thing I rarely hear is how being your own boss allows you the opportunity and freedom to pursue more LIFE. Happiness, income, peace of mind, whatever you deem success, there is more LIFE in pursuing your own dream as opposed to following the dictates of a master who keeps you three mistakes away from being fired. Self-discovery, self-growth. Learn. Try. Fail. Pick yourself up and try again. Isn't this the essence of LIFE?

The best part of being my own boss? All the new 1099's I will now have to fill out thanks to the President and his new Health Care Plan. More paperwork less actual work Thanks lots.

Best part is taking back from Big Corp.the accounts you sold for them before they downsized all of us to unemployment! Corp America, let go of so much talent..So many of us over 55... and We were the one who gave them 60 plus hours to build their business... NOW we are together making it happen for us. And they said we were Too Old! HA...
It's even better when your business is online only! Heck, work when I want (even though we keep regular 9-5 biz hrs). Can watch TV. Don't even have to get dressed, shave, etc! LOL Only problem is you end up a prisoner in your own home whereas we get a lot of phone in orders.
i have been in business for 15 years and tomorrow for the first time (i think) i am playing hookie and getting a pedicure with my friend...because i can...i'm the boss...although i will feel guilty about it, atleast i will have pretty toes!
When I was growing up in the fifties and sixties, most common consumer items were from small businesses. You knew the person who either made it or sold it. Usually, he was at the cash register. I remember wanting my own store when I grew up. It was better. It was a community.
By the way, this was in New York City.
Being your own boss has so many benefits, but you must enjoy what you are doing for true success. I love watching new entrepeneurs develop the skills necessary to become successful. There is no better feeling in the world than to help others become independent and grow beyond what they ever dreamed of.

I've had my own biz for over 11 years...no one to answer to but me..take time off when I want, go to lunch when I want, shop when I want, do everything when I want...no time clocks to punch, no one to answer to. The best thing is one day is never the same as the next. Too many things to do, speaking, writing, consulting, hands-on. This is the best! www.windinherhair.com
You make your own life. I may work many more hours at home thatn I did outside of it, but that is my choice, and I benefit from it.
I can forward the phone to my cell phone throw my laptop in the car and I have my office with me. No one can tell me they are laying me off. I have complete control of my future. I love it !
Working more hours for less money. Wouldn’t a couple of Detroit or Flint coney dogs taste good about now? Does your mouth water for fiery hot chili or garlic and herb spaghetti sauce? Does kielbasa with potatoes soup or other authentic Polish soups sound intriguing? Do you like deli-style pickles? Now that summer is upon us, how is your supply of steak seasoning or tangy rib rub? Get these spice mixtures and much more at wholesale costs from www.SunriseSideBulkPacks.com
The best part about being my own boss is that I can schedule my day based on my strengths. I'm a workhorse in the mornings, but not particularly creative, so I schedule work then that doesn't require creativity. In the evening I'm really creative, so that's the time that I do anything that will benefit from creativity. I have low energy in the afternoon, so that's more likely to be a time for relaxing for me, like more 9-5 people do in the evening. I could never make my schedule suit my strengths in a "regular" job.

Being your own boss takes plenty of discipine and time management. Especially when the weather is nice it is easy to pack up and take off to the beach. Whoa..maybe that is not so bad. I do get up very early and get a buch of work done before most people even get to their jobs. By noon I have already put a full day in and often take time in the afternoon to do errands, go to appointments and sometimes just have fun. I save a bunch of time not commuting. The best part of being my own boss is I take Fridays off, most of August and December off.I could not imagine going to a job where I am watched on how long I take a break, or when I come and go. Finally the best the part is you make the decisions - some are right and some are wrong... and you don't have someone playing the Monday morning quarterback.
